EV Charging at Tahoe Ski Resorts: Palisades, Heavenly, Northstar & More
Which Tahoe ski resorts have EV charging? A complete breakdown of on-mountain charging options and what to do when the lot is full.
Ski Resort EV Charging — The Reality
More EV drivers are heading to Tahoe ski resorts every season, but charging infrastructure at the mountains hasn't kept pace. Here's a resort-by-resort breakdown of what's available and what to expect.
Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley)
Palisades has installed Level 2 chargers in the main parking area, but with thousands of vehicles on a powder day, competition for these spots is fierce. Arrive early (before 8 AM) for the best chance at a charging spot. The chargers are free but limited in number.
Heavenly Mountain Resort
Located in South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly benefits from nearby town charging infrastructure. However, the resort's own parking areas have limited EV charging. Your best bet is to charge at your hotel overnight and top off at one of the public fast chargers in the Heavenly Village area.
Northstar California
Northstar has a handful of Level 2 chargers in the village parking area. These are popular with day-trippers and typically claimed early. The resort is working on expanding capacity, but for now, plan to charge elsewhere.
Sugar Bowl & Donner Ski Ranch
These smaller resorts along Donner Pass have minimal to no EV charging infrastructure. If you're skiing here, charge fully before arriving and consider our mobile charging service as a backup plan.
The Mobile Charging Solution
Imagine returning to your car after a great day of skiing only to find your battery too low to make it home. Our mobile charging service operates at all major Tahoe ski resorts and parking areas. We can bring a charge to your vehicle while you're on the slopes or waiting in the lodge.
